Burmese Rubies
“The great value of rubies is mentioned in the Bible. Ruby mining was recorded in the sixth century AD at Mogok, Burma (Myanmar)… The rare and valued ‘pigeon’s blood’ variety now mined in Burma was previously called ‘blood drops from the heart of Mother Earth’ by the Burmese.” (Cally Oldershaw, Guide to Gems, 2003)
List of currently available Burmese Rubies from Ideal Canadian:
Burmese Sapphires
“While the Burma ruby is famed throughout the world as the finest of its kind, the Burma sapphire has been ignominiously, but unjustly, dismissed as of poor quality. In actual fact nowhere in the world are such superb sapphires produced as in Burma.” (G.F. Herbert Smith, Gemstones, 1972)

Burmese Jades (Jadeite)
“Gold may have a price, but jade is priceless.” (Chinese Proverb)
“Jadeite… first introduced from Burma (Myanmar) in the 16th century… is rarer variety, also most highly prized, largely because of its better coloration. When it is found in a rich emerald green color, it is known as imperial jade, and is the most highly prized.” (Cally Oldershaw, Guide to Gems, 2003)
